Coach Smith enters his fifth year as the head coach of the Mustang women and fourth varsity season. Coming off their first second place finish in Region IX and a record 10 wins, he has the team improving every year.
Leading the team to the Region IX Semi-final last year showed potential and now Coach Smith has the Mustangs ready to knock down the door!!
Coach Smith comes from Cottonwood Heights, UT, where he attended Hillcrest High and graduated in 1988. He continued on to the University of Utah, where he earned his Bachelor’s in History and the University of Phoenix, where he earned his Master’s in Education. While waiting to find a teaching job, he works for ARS Flood and Fire Cleanup as a lead carpenter.
Ben and his wife, Amy, have four children: Rylee age 12, Zackery age 9, Jaxon age 7, and Taylor age 4. They are proud to be a part of the WWCC family and hope to add to the rich athletic tradition that Western has.
Kelsey Allen returns for her second year as the assistant/goalkeeper coach at Western Wyoming.
Kelsey hails from Rock Springs, Wyoming, where she graduated from Rock Springs High. Kelsey was an outstanding goalkeeper at Rock Springs, which led to her playing at Westminster College in Utah, after high school. Kelsey led the nation in goals against average in her stellar career at Westminster.
As Kelsey continues to work on her law degree, she continues to strive to help the Mustangs excel. Her knowledge of defense and goalkeeping were key in the Mustangs record, 10 wins last season.
Kelsey is proud to be a part of the Mustang tradition and looks forward to taking the team to greater heights this year.
