POLICY 5250B:
HONORARY DEGREE
In recognition of outstanding educational service to Western Wyoming College, the community, or the state, individuals may be granted an honorary degree by the college.

PROCEDURE 5250B:
HONORARY DEGREE
Students or any contract employee may nominate individuals for an honorary degree. Nominations must be submitted to the college President's office no later than April 1.
APPROVAL PROCESS
Upon receipt of a nomination, the college President shall call a meeting of the President's Council. The council will review all nominations and forward a recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
If approved, the degree will usually be awarded at commencement but may also be presented at other important ceremonies. The honorary degree will be listed on the commencement program. In some instances, this recognition is intended to be a surprise for the nominee. In the event of this circumstance, the college President will notify the President of the Board of Trustees to assure their support.
CRITERIA
Outstanding educational service to the College, community, or state, will be of primary importance.
RECOGNITION
The individual will receive a diploma from Western Wyoming College stipulating the honorary degree being presented. Special recognition shall be accorded as deemed appropriate by the college President.
A maximum of two honorary degrees will be granted per year.
