POLICY 5310A:
FINANCIAL AID: GENERAL POLICY
The College recognizes that many students may need financial aid to complete their college education. The College, therefore, provides financial aid programs based on (1) assessed financial need and/or (2) academic or special abilities.
The purpose of financial aid is to provide a supplementary source of funding to assist with the costs of education. Financial aid is not designed or intended to cover the full costs of attendance or to cover the full costs of a student's living expenses while in college.
To be eligible to apply for financial aid, students must have earned a high school diploma or equivalency certificate. Students must reapply for financial aid for each academic year, and aid is approved for one semester at a time. To receive financial aid disbursement(s) during a semester or other attendance period, students must be making satisfactory academic progress at the time of the disbursement. Satisfactory academic progress in any class is defined as receiving passing grades and being on schedule in terms of completing the required amount of course work by the scheduled dates. At the end of each semester or other attendance period, students must meet academic and other financial aid eligibility requirements for the semester just completed in order to be eligible for financial aid for a subsequent semester.
The Financial Aid Office administers the institutional aid programs, the Federal Student Financial Assistance (Title IV) Programs, and assists in administering the WWCC Foundation aid programs.
Funds for these programs vary from year to year. Funds for institutional
programs are based on the condition of the total college budget, and funds for
the federal programs are based on approval by Congress. The WWCC Foundation
determines the availability of Foundation funds and acts on all Foundation award
recommendations.
