Welcome In the summer of 2009 students attending Western Wyoming College will have the unique opportunity to be involved in a variety of different field schools or in field experiences that range from working on the Great Plains to working on Fremont Sites in Northwestern Colorado. Below is a list of special instructions you will need for each field school. It should be noted that the enrollment in each course is limited. Studies in the Rock Art of Wyoming and Colorado

Anth 1350 Q1
We begin this class early. Starting in mid May we will have our first field session. This class allows you to visit some of the unique petroglyph sites in the region. Most people enjoy this class since we take a scientific and culturally sensitive view of some of the more remarkable petroglyphs in the region.
To the right is one of the sites we will work at.
The initial class schedule for this class had this starting on Monday, May 18 and ends on May 22, 2009. Come prepared to walk and learn.

The Field Work in the Pacific Rim or Asia
May 24 to July 5
This summer there is the possibility of opportunities to work overseas on an archaeological project in Fiji. This may be a short term project and might be handled as a directed study. Instructor Permission is required.

Great Plains Archaeology

July 5 - July 28th 2009
In July of 2009 we will continue our field work on the Plains and in the Canyons of Montana and Colorado. This is an excellent chance for you to gain experience working on prehistoric sites in the northern or southern plains.

Evanston Chinatown Excavations
August 1-12
There will be limited work in Evanston this summer. The work will begin around August 1rst and will continue until the end of the month.
This is an enjoyable project where most people can learn and work in a historic Chinese community. What you should do is meet us at the site. Come prepared to work. A map showing the location of the site can be found by following the map link below. But when you get to Evanston just ask where the Chinatown dig is or ask where the Jolly Roger is we are right across the street.
